The Obamas' production company’s 1st film receives Oscar nomination

The Obamas are setting standards yet again! A film produced by the former US president and first lady, Barack and Michelle Obama’s production company was nominated for a whole entire Oscar.

Barack and Michelle Obama are inspirations, pillars of strength and people of change. The power couple has not stopped raising the bar ever since they took the White House back in 2009.

YEN.com.gh learnt that the Obama’s received the news of their Oscar nomination on Monday and were completely blown away.

The Netflix documentary film titled American Factory, which tells the story of a Chinese company which took care of the former General Motors plant, was the film that got the Obamas the Oscar nod for Best Documentary.

American Factory was the first film created under Obama’s production company and was produced in 2019 and released on Netflix.

The former US president took to social media to thank his team and express his pride.

Former first lady Michelle Obama also took to social media to give thanks and share the amazing news.

In other exciting news regarding appointments and nominations, Ghanaian writer and art historian, Nana Ofosuaa Oforiatta Ayim, has been appointed by the University of Oxford to the Advisory Council of the University’s Cultural Programme.

According to Dailymailgh.com, Nana Ofosuaa Oforiatta Ayim's role of the Advisory Council will be to advise, guide and inform and to bring external perspectives from across the spectrum of culture.

In her appointment letter, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Louise Richardson, recognized the great works the young lady has been doing, saying that:

“Your expertise in helping to shape the agenda for this exciting programme would be invaluable and I would be delighted if you could join the Advisory Council as a formal member.”
