Joana VanBoven, a 22-year-old US-resident Ghanaian native has reached out to underprivileged persons in poor communities in Ghana to educate and give them resources to enhance their quality of life.
The founder of Health is Wealth started the charity organisation to connect with underserved communities to educate and empower them by providing them with essential educational materials.
Joana VanBoven majored in systems management and minored in public health while in university. She arrived in Ghana to help improve the health of poor people in deprived communities.
In a post on social media, VanBoven, noted that there was no better way to ''start off 2020 than to impact the lives of individuals.
You have never met a day in your life, by educating and giving them resources that will enhance their quality of life.
From the moment I landed to Ghana the devil was at work, it seemed like my main purpose of coming to Ghana was never going to happen but through and through I reminded myself of Jeremiah 29:11, I lost faith at times because as a human you never see what the Lord has in store but y’all when I tell you that when God has a plan or purpose for you, nothing or nobody can change that not even yourself, today was pure evidence of it,'' Joana VanBoven said.
Under the auspices of Health is Wealth, VanBoven, together with her friends, visited Dawatrim in the Eastern region, a community without lights or running clean water to spend the day with natives.
VanBoven is currently pursuing further studies to reach her goal of becoming a Physician Assistant.
