CK Akonnor, a man who has had great achievements, would be handling the national men's football team of Ghana called the Black Stars for at least two years.

It would be recalled how it was earlier reported that former Black Stars midfielder, Charles Kwablan Akonnor, has been appointed the new head coach of the senior national team.

1. Akonnor won the coach of the year award at the 2019 Ghana Football Awards

2. The coach has been very influential since time immemorial and is a great leader. When at Wolfsburg, Akonnor was a very crucial player in the team and in the 2001/02 season, got appointed as team captain.

3. The new Black Stars' leader has coached three of the biggest teams in Ghana; Asante Kotoko, Hearts of Oak and AshGold.

4. Akonnor has been the assistant manager of the Black Stars succeeding Ibrahim Tanko since October 2019.

5. CK has a great experience as a footballer, having earned 41 caps for Ghana, scoring 12 goals.

6. He was part of the Ghanaian team that went to the African Cup of Nations in 1994, 1996, 1998 and 2000.

7. As a coach at Kotoko, CK led his team to win the NC Special Competition Tier 1 trophy.

8. CK Akonnor made over 370 appearances in his lengthy club career, which spanned about 19 good years.

9. He clearly has a well-diversified experience as he played for seven clubs in total and scored about 48 goals in all.
