Election 2020: No appointee of mine will be allowed to buy state vehicles - Mahama

- John Mahama has started making promises ahead of the December 2020 polls

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flag bearer, John Dramani Mahama says if given the opportunity to lead the country again, he will make sure his appointees do not purchase vehicles belonging to the state.

The former present said he will abolish the system where political appointees purchase state properties.

One of the immediate measures we will take is to put an immediate and permanent end to the purchase of duty post vehicles by political appointees…Government vehicles will remain government vehicles,” Mr. Mahama stated.

He suggested that his future government will secure loans from financial institutions for appointees to purchase vehicles.

We will work with the banks and financial institutions to enable appointees access credit so that they can acquire vehicles of their own.

Mr. Mahama also said he will build new universities in each of the newly-created regions in the country.

He said the new NDC government will prioritize education.

He made this known at the launch of a digital platform where party members can pay monies to raise funds to help finance the NDC ahead of the 2020 December elections.

Members of the party, according to the initiative, are required to download a special application on play store on their mobile phones to enable them easily contribute.

As part of the initiative, members of the party are also required to adopt and contribute funds through their respective branches in order to ease the financial burden of organising a national campaign on national executives and the flagbearer.

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that John Dramani Mahama, on Thursday, January 16, 2020, said he will ensure technical and vocational education in Ghana is free when he is voted into power again.

According to the former president, he will also make sure all the impediments that make technical and vocational education unattractive are cleared.

He stated that he will also ensure technical and vocational education become attractive for students.
