Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger is committed to developing capacities of youngsters in Sierra Leone after donating a huge sum of money to the country.

The 26-year-old German star gave the African country over $100,000 to further strengthen the free education scheme.

Rudiger, who spent most parts of the first half of this season on the sidelines due to injury met with the country's president Julius Maada Bio at the United Kingdom-Africa Investment summit in London.

Their meeting was after the Blues' disappointing defeat to Newcastle United at the St James' Park over the weekend.

Sierra Leone is my home. I’m not the talking type of a person, I am about action. You can count on us and do not hesitate,” Rudiger said.

According to BBC Sport, the educational scheme was set up to empower nothing less than two million children in the primary and secondary school categories.

"The narrative about Sierra Leone must change and it is the duty of every Sierra Leonean out in the diaspora to come on board with the rebranding process," the President insisted.

While giving his remarks, Bio appreciated Rudiger for the massive money donation, assuring the defender that the appropriated properly.

He further assured the Blues star that accountability and transparency would be greatly considered during the process, adding that the player could check anytime to audit how the money would be spent.
