A kindhearted man identified as Ste Burke has warmed many hearts by tracking down the owner of an expensive designer bicycle that was stolen and put up for sale.

Our Manifesto: This is what YEN.com.gh believes in

YEN.com.gh gathers that the bicycle, which costs £1,350 (GHC10k) was put up for sale at £80 (38,034.04).

The lock attached to the bicycle made Burke realise that the bicycle was stolen. He bought it so that he could give it back to its real owner.

After buying the bicycle, Burke posted on Twitter: "Has anyone had their bike stolen? Just bought this for £80 and it’s got a bike lock on it. Apparently it’s from the Crosby area. Bought it so I can get it to back to the right owner. I know it’s a £1350 bike and I'd be heartbroken if it was me. Give us a shout."

Burke was able to reunite the bicycle with the actual owner after his tweet went viral.

Describing how the owner was tracked down, Burke tweeted: "Was messaged on here by someone and it ended up being the fellas who's bike it was [sic]. He had the key to the bike lock and all the paperwork to go with it. Ended up being from dovecot.

"Said his house got had off two days ago and he'd saved up and spent £1250 on the bike last year. Happy days. It's in the right hands now."

Burke's kind gesture was commended by a lot of people and also prompted Halfords to promise him a bicycle of his own.

A Twitter user tweeted: "What an absolutely brilliant specimen of humanity you are. Not only that, but you’re a Red too! Good on you sir, I hope that you get some good luck come your way sometime soon. You deserve it."

Cliff Johnson said: "Great story, great and kind deed. When I read about the key, I thought of Cinderella and the glass slipper fitting her foot. Fairy tales happen in real life. Good on ya mate."

Bernie MC said: "I hope you get rewarded 10 fold for your honesty and generally being one of the good Guy's. Karma works both ways I hope. Fair play to you."

Meg Mucklebones said: "Should have taken a pic of the scum that stole it and post it on here, of course no point handing it to the police."

Meanwhile, YEN.com.gh previously reported that social media was recently flooded with posts about kids who were going back to school. One little girl, in particular, stood out for Khungwayo.

The unidentified pupil was dressed in a uniform that was too big for her, and the little girl was teased because of it.

Khalima Khungwayo tracked down the pupil and travelled to her home town to buy her a new uniform.
