5 competent females Mahama may want to consider as running mate for 2020

The flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama is still yet to announce who his running mate for the 2020 presidential election will be.

Ghanaians are also waiting to find out who Mahama’s running mate will be.

Mr. Mahama and the NDC are currently in a search leading to the selection and naming of a competent candidate to run along with the flagbearer.

John Mahama has the onus and mandate to select a person who will partner him for the task ahead.

While the search is ongoing, there are also various groups who are lobbying for their candidate to be selected as running mate for the biggest opposition party.

YEN.com.gh take a look at 5 competent females John Dramani Mahama may want to consider as his running mate for 2020.

1. Hannah Serwaa Tetteh

Hanna Serwaa Tetteh is a Ghanaian barrister and politician. She served in the cabinet of Ghana as Minister for Trade and Industry from 2009 to 2013 and Minister for Foreign Affairs from 2013 to 2017.

She was also the Member of Parliament for the Awutu-Senya West constituency. She is currently holding a UN appointment as Special Representative to the African Union and Head of the United Nations Office to the African Union.

2. Dr. Zanetor-Agyemang Rawlings

Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings is the eldest daughter of the first president under the 4th Republic of Ghana Jerry Rawlings and former first lady Nana Konadu Agyeman.

She is currently the Member of Parliament of Klottey-Korle Constituency.

3. Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong

Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong, is a legal practitioner and a former Attorney General of Ghana and Minister for Justice of Ghana.

She was appointed by President Mahama in 2013 as AG. She is the second woman to hold this office in the country, the first being Mrs. Betty Mould-Iddrisu.

4. Betty Mould-Iddrisu

Betty Mould-Iddrisu is a lawyer and experienced politician.

Her first direct involvement in the Ghana government was as the Attorney General and Minister for Justice of Ghana since 2009. She is the first woman to serve in this capacity in Ghana.

Mould-Iddrisu had been one of those thought to be the likely nominee for Vice President of Ghana on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

5. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyeman

Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang is a former Minister for Education in Ghana. She was appointed in 2013 by President John Mahama after the 2012 general election and served until January 2017.

She is a member of the National Democratic Congress.

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that former deputy governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Johnson Asiama is reportedly on the run because police is on a manhunt for him.

According to DailyGuide online, the former BoG deputy governor is wanted in connection with the banking crisis which led to the collapse of nine commercial banks.
