Khabib Nurmagomedov agrees hybrid fight with Floyd Mayweather at UFC 249

- Khabib Nurmagomedov has agreed to fight Floyd Mayweather

- The UFC star's camp made the disclosure through a statement by his father

- Mayweather initiated the fight against Khabib who will defend his title this April

Khabib Nurmagomedov's team has given nods to a potential hybrid showdown with retired American boxing star Floyd Mayweather after the UFC star's father Abdulmanap issued a blatant rejoinder.

Mayweather had earlier taunted the Russian over a possible showdown at UFC 249 after his victory over controversial Irish boxing star Conor McGregor in 2017.

With the boxing legend looking for a possible return to the ring after sealing a deal with UFC president Dana White, Khabib may be his first opponent and the dust is getting clear on it.

Khabib, undefeated UFC lightweight champion, will be defending his UFC title against Tony Ferguson in April 2020.

The 31-year-old successfully defended his belt against McGregor in a bout ridden with ripple of controversy before replicating the same feat over Dustin Poirier at UFC 242 in September 2019.

And there is a possibility that the Russian champion may take up 'The Money' after Ferguson bout in a showdown that will have 11 rounds of boxing and one round of MMA.

"Mayweather. . . is the greatest in boxing and he wants to fight with the same champion who did not lose a single fight, '' Abdulmanap replied in response to Mayweather's Instagram taunt.

''With Khabib, everything is fine, but now we have Tony Ferguson on the line. We will stand 11 rounds against the best boxer.''

Khabib's father also disclosed that should the hybrid fight happen, his son will be work with Vasily Lomachenko for six months in order to get on good shape.

Mayweather is considered as one of the greatest boxers in history with 50 fight winning streak in his boxing career spanning decades.
