Cristiano Ronaldo's 'Iron Man' robot statue unveiled at festival in Italy

Cristiano Ronaldo has been given a quite noble-worth remodelling after the Portuguese star's statue was unveiled in celebration of a popular festival in Tuscany, Italy.

The Juve star's effigy was given a supermodel "Iron Man" shape as parts of the activities put in line for the Viareggio Carnival, with reports claiming the new robot-like statue was built with hard metals from head to toe.

Ronaldo is not a new football celebrity to have his statue unveiled. In hometown in Portugal, the Juventus star got his statue unveiled two years back as part of events towards renaming Madeira airport after him.

And at the Viareggio Carnival, the Ronaldo's statue was unveiled in celebration of the annual event which reportedly attracted more than 800,000 guests a year.

A look at the robot effigy shows that it was completely made of super-hard metals with the face and eyes moving.

In terms of head and hair, the statue could be said to be a more professional design considering other horror ice statues which were made for the Portuguese star in the past.

The statue's shape resembles the body physique of Portuguese-- a perfect gimmick aimed at attracting more guests to the event.

Viareggio Carnival, which will run from February 1 to 5 of the same month, started in 1873 as a form of protest against high taxes on the local residents.

The event has now become a popular annual festival across Europe in which masks and caricatures of great people ranging from sports to politics are put on parades.

Meanwhile, YEN.com.gh had reported that Zlatan Ibrahimovic's towering statue has been defaced and burnt by angry Malmo football fans after the Swedish star bought a 25% stake in rival club Hammarby.

The Swedish star became the latest football star to venture into club ownership after buying a chunk of percentage in a Swedish topflight club which was announced on Wednesday, November 27.

The development, however, irked Malmo fans who went to deface and burn his giant statue built outside Swedbank Stadion in a courageous show of displeasure.
