Asante Kotoko have won the bragging rights over their rivals Hearts of Oak during their week 6 game in the Ghana Premier League at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The match which came off on Sunday, January 26, 2020, saw the Kumasi giants reigning supreme over the Accra-based side with a 2-1 win.
Kotoko started the game on a good note as they mounted pressure on the Phobians.
However, their hard work paid off as Justice Blay opened the scoring with a powerful header on the 17th minute after connecting home Augustine Okrah's free-kick.
The home side then took the game to the visitors searching for the equalizer but the former held their guns to thwart the latter's attacking movements.
The first half ended with Kotoko leading Hearts of Oak 1-0.
From the break, Hearts of Oak never gave up as they pushed for the equalizer and they got what they were looking for.
Joseph Esso restored parity for the Phobians with a close-range finish on the 65th minute.
As the game was heading for a draw, Kotoko were awarded a penalty after Hearts of Oak defender Robert Addo handled Christopher Nettey's shot in the box on the 90th-minute mark
Naby Keita picked the ball and he struck home to win the day for Kotoko.
