Akufo-Addo picks up nomination forms for NPP presidential primary

- President Akufo-Addo picks up nominations form

- The form cost GHc20,000, while filing fee is GHc200,000

President Nana Akufo-Addo on Monday, January 27, 2020 picked up nomination forms to contest as flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) .

The president’s form was picked for him by director of research at the presidency, Victor Newman.

He said President Akufo-Addo is willing to lead the party to victory in election 2020 again.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) announced that the presidential nominations form fee is GHc20,000, while filing fee is GHc200,000.

The party’s parliamentary and presidential primaries will be held on April 20. The party will also be electing the remainder of its parliamentary candidates on the same day.

The party has already held primaries for constituencies that do not have sitting Members of Parliament.

It is unclear if President Akufo-Addo will face any challenge.

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia is alleging that the Electoral Commission has ‘bribed’ some top journalists to support their campaign for the new voters' register.

According to the NDC general secretary, the EC held a secret meeting with some senior journalists to convince them to shut up and rather propagate, the Commission’s agenda of compiling a new register.
