Kobe Bryant crash: Baseball coach John Altobelli died with his wife and daughter

Sports fans around have been devastated by the deaths of American basketball legend Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna Maria.

As earlier reported by YEN.com.gh, Bryant and his daughter died on Sunday, January 26, 2020, after a helicopter they were travelling on crashed.

While a lot of attention has been focused on the former NBA star and his daughter, there were seven other people including the pilot who perished in the accident.

One of the victims happened to be a popular baseball coach, John Altobelli who was the coach of Orange Coast College.

Just like Bryant, Altobelli was on the helicopter with family. His wife, Keri, and daughter, Alyssa, died with him.

Alyssa was a basketball player at Kobe's Mamba Academy and was being escorted to training by her parents.

Altobelli's brother has confirmed that the 56-year-old died along with his wife, Keri, and daughter, Alyssa, who was about 13 and played on the same basketball team as Bryant’s daughter.

John Altobelli was entering his 28th season as coach at the community college in Costa Mesa, California. The team won a state championship last year and John Altobelli was named national coach of the year.
