An aspiring New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate, Albert Kan Dapaah Jnr has described Ursula Owusu-Ekuful as the wrong candidate to contest the NDC in the 2020 parliamentary elections.
According to the son of Ghana’s National Security Minister, the NPP’s parliamentarian for Ablekuma West must be changed.
“Ursula Owusu is not a marketable commodity in this constituency."
He also opined that Ursula has never been contested in the NPP's primaries in the constituency before. "She has never won political primaries in this constituency.”
Kan Dapaah Jnr has vowed to unseat Ursula in the NPP’s upcoming parliamentary primaries in April.
He has also described the Communications Minister as a coward who feared to be contested in the primaries.
He has further alleged that there is foul play in the constituency, as there is a grand scheme by Ursula to ensure she goes unopposed in the party’s primaries which comes off in April.
Speaking in an interview with Citi TV, Kan Dapaah Jnr accused Ursula of dividing the party at the constituency by her bad and poor leadership style. He said some terrible actions of her led to the party’s constituency chairman resignation in 2016.
The Ablekuma West constituency covers areas like Dansoman, Sahara, Gbegbeyise, Agege, Glefe, Opetekwe and Shiabu.
There has been attempts by some persons in the NPP to allow incumbent Member of Parliaments (MP) to stand unopposed in the party’s upcoming primaries.
Meanwhile, the Majority Leader and Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu has advised the party against any such move to prevent qualified members who express the interest to contest from doing so.
YEN.com.gh earlier reported former Ghana coach, James Kwesi Appiah has revealed that former president John Dramani Mahama was the reason why he was sacked in 2014 after Ghana’s shambolic performance at the FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
Mr. Appiah in his book titled, "Leaders Don’t Have To Yell" states that, then President John Mahama asked former Ghana football boss, Kwesi Nyantakyi to sack him after the Black Stars returned from Brazil.
