There are many things we take for granted on a daily basis.
A touching story shared via Facebook recently served as a reminder to cherish life's little blessings.
Jessica Berger took to Facebook to detail the special relationship her and her family share with their domestic worker Oscarine.
Affectionately known as Occa, the elderly lady raised Jessica since birth as her second mother.
Occa recently celebrated her 60th birthday and the family decided to make it one to remember.
They pulled out all the stops to ensure Occa could enjoy a number of experiences for the first time in her life.
Their special day started with an early morning surprise flight to Durban - her maiden trip on an aircraft.
The day included hearty meals, a memorable trip to Ushaka and Occa's first ever journey to the beach.
Jessica's heartwarming conclusion to her post summed up the experience beautifully:
"A day full of so many firsts for Occa. Things that we take for granted on a daily basis. A day full of so many laughs and smiles and unforgettable memories made. I’m so grateful that I was able to make this experience possible and share this special day with her. I’m also so grateful to my Mom, my Dad and Tubby for helping me make this dream a reality. A day I will treasure for the rest of my life."
The inspirational story was shared via the #ImStaying group and Briefly.co.za noted that it received a staggering number of likes and comments.
