105-year-old woman makes history; passes level 4 exams with 74.5% score (photos)

- A centenarian, Bhageerathi Amma, has become the oldest student in India to pass a level 4 equivalency exam

- Excelling, the 105-year-old woman scored an amazing 74.5% where she cleared all the marks in mathematics and scored 30 over 50 in English

Bhageerathi Amma, a 105-year-old woman, has set a new record in India by passing a school-level exam.

The Quint reports that Amma, an indigene of Kollam in Kerala, passed her level 4 exams which were conducted by the State Literacy Mission as she scored 205 out of the overall 275 marks.

In the exams score breakdown, Amma scored 75 out of 75 in mathematics, giving her a total 74.5% score in the exam.

Her exam combinations are maths, English, Malayalam and Nammalum Namukku Chuttum (Us and what’s around us).

In English, she scored 30 over 50 and 50 each for other subjects except in maths where she had the whole 75 marks.

It should be noted that only English has a total mark of 50, while the three other subjects are scored over 75.

Amma said that her dream is to complete level 10 equivalency exams. When she was reminded of her statement that maths was easy, the centenarian smiled.

Another thing worthy of note is that 11,593 people wrote the same exam, while 10,012 passed it in the state.

In October 2019, Karthyayini Amma, aged 96 years, made history when she scored 98 out of 100 in the equivalency exams.

Meanwhile, YEN.com.gh earlier reported that Kane Tanaka, the world’s oldest woman, surpassed her own record as she celebrated her 117th birthday at a nursing home in Fukuoka in southern Japan.

She marked her birthday with a party on Sunday, January 5, in the presence of staff and friends at the home. It should, however, be noted that Tanaka’s birthday was on Thursday, January 2. During the birthday celebration, the centenarian ate a slice from her cake.

She said, “tasty, I want some more” with a broad smile on her face. Tanaka got the Guinness World Records confirmation as the oldest person in 2018.
