Stonebwoy calls for an extension of his VMGA ban

Dancehall artiste Stonebwoy has called on Charterhouse, organizers of Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) to extend his ban from the awards to serve as a deterrent to other artistes.

According to the 'Ololo' hitmaker the young artistes in the industry need to learn that you cannot misbehave ono an awards stage and go free.

Stonebwoy made these remarks at a press conference that took place at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Accra on Friday, February 7.

"The young ones must know that you can't just misbehave on an awards stage and go free. Such punishments are good to check musicians. The ban has not affected me in any way but it’s all good for the music industry,” he said.

Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale were banned indefinitely from the VGMA after a brawl involving their camps on stage at the 2019 event which was held at the Grand Arena Dome of the Accra International Conference Centre on May 18.

The two were also arrested and put before court on a charge of offensive conduct conducive to breach of peace, with an additional charge of displaying a weapon in a public place without permission for Stonebwoy.

They later reconciled, held a press conference to announce a joint concert and have since been very cordial.

Addressing their reconciliation, Stonebwoy said it was not planned like people were saying.

Speaking about the newfound peace between Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale, he said: "We have grown from boys to men and that is what you are seeing. We regret sometimes the decision we took in the past but as things are now, we are cool,” he said.

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that Stonebwoy had stated that songstress OV left his record label because her contract with Burniton Music Group (BMG) had ended.

Stonebwoy also added that OV left at a time BMG was trying to fix some internal issues but she was not kicked out.

In a story cited by YEN.com.gh, Stonebwoy said his doors are always opened if OV needs any help from BMP.

“OV has been released from the Burniton Music Group as BMG is still fixing things internally. She is on her own now if she needs help she is welcome," Stonebwoy stated.

Rumours of OV being sacked from BMG spread like wildfire around September 2019 after Stonebwoy's former manager Blakk Cedi was sacked.

But Stonebwoy said OV was never sacked from his record label.
