The troubled former NPP vice chairman of the Central Region, Ekow Ewusi has made some serious allegations about top persons who are involved in galamsey in the country.

The embattled New Patriotic Party member has petitioned the Director-General of Bureau of National Investigations to investigate the Inter-Ministerial Committee on illegal mining over the missing “seized and movable logistics”.

According to Mr. Ewusi, as of October 31, 2019, out of 254 excavators seized from the illegal miners, 100 were released under the strict and direct instructions of the Minister of Environment, Prof Frimpong Boateng and the rest kept in a safekeeping yard in Accra.

He also alleged the sector minister has in his possession an undisclosed “confiscated gold, movable vehicles and auxiliary logistics”.

Mr. Ewusi says he was surprised Prof. Boateng said in the media that 500 excavators were seized. He has also asked the BNI to investigate a number of mining towns and companies in their quest for the truth and whereabouts of the missing excavators and gold.

Some the companies he wants investigated are; Thy Will Company Ltd, Symphony Company Ltd and River Restoration Company Ltd.

There was a framework implemented by IMCIM to engage constituents in the mining enclave in community mining which I believe will be of interest to your office to also investigate these mining towns engaged in this Community Mining Programmes, namely Okyerekrom, Nkoteng, Kotokuom and Fomena which have all benefited from the Community Mining and to whose benefit and interest were these Community Mining programme designed and formulated,” Mr. Ewusi said in the petition.
