Dwayne Wade, a retired National Basketball Association (NBA) star and husband of popular actress Gabrielle Union, has gushed about his beautiful daughter. The star gushed about his 12-year-old transgender daughter during an interview.

In an interview with Ellen Degeneres, the proud dad of four talked about how his daughter came out as transgender to him and union. He said his daughter, Zaya, came home one day and announced her decision.

Zaya, who was born a boy named Zion, had told her parents one day that she would like to live her truth. She also told her parents to address her as Zaya and reference her as she and her.

Wade noted that he and his wife her proud parents of a child who is part of the transgender community and they are proud allies.

According to him, Union had used her contacts in the industry to reach out to people who could advise them on how to move forward with the situation and help Zaya become her best self.

The retired NBA star said he encouraged his daughter after she came out to them. He noted that it is a parent's job to listen to their children and give them the best information.

Actress Union also celebrated their transgender daughter on her Instagram page. She shared a video of the girl advising people to live their true selves.

Dwayne is a father to four children, 18-year-old Zaire, 12-year-old Zaya, 6-year-old Xavier, and his daughter with Union, one-year-old Kaavia.
