Lionel Messi wins Man of the Match awards most in Europe's top leagues

- Lionel Messi has more Man of the Match award than any player in Europe's top 5 leagues

- The Barcelona star has won the award on 10 occasions this season with an average rating of 8.67

- Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo unsurprisingly come behind the Argentine on 2nd and 3rd spots respectively

In what does not come as a much surprise, Lionel Messi has beaten other players on the planet to the highest number of Man of the Match this season.

The Argentine has been outstanding for Barcelona with his impressive stats standing on 14 goals and 11 assists in just 1530 minutes of games for the Spanish champions.

Messi has now come atop the pile among players who have been most outstanding in league matches across Europe's top five leagues.

The six-time Ballon d’Or winner is on double figures for goals, with his Man of the Match awards coming on 10 times. That means with an average rating of 8.67, the Argentine won the honour most this season.

Paris-Saint-Germain forward, Neymar sits behind his former Barcelona teammate on the log with 8 pieces of the honour in 1231 game played.

With an average efficiency rating of 8.66, the Brazilian striker has been involved in total 19 goals, 13 goals and six assists this season under head coach Thoman Tuchel.

Juventus superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo is the third man to have raked the awards more than any player this season after Messi and Neymar.

The Portuguese's Man of the Man award also stands on 8, with an average rating of 7.91. Ronaldo has cemented himself as the engine room of Maurizio Sarri's side with 20 goals and two assists.

And it is Lazio star Ciro Immobile who has pulled the storm more than him in the Italian league with 25 goals and 6 assists.

Deportivo Alaves star Joselu is behind Ronaldo, also winning the award of on seven occasions with an average rating of 7.75 and nine goals this season.

RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner capped the first five with 8 awards. Werner has also been involved in approximately 26 league goals this season (20 goals, 6 assists).
