NDC MPs Muntaka, Ibrahim survive road accident near Konongo (Photos)

-NDC MPs escape near-fatal accident on the Kumasi-Accra road

- Muntaka Mubarak and Ahmed Ibrahim were travelling to Sunyani for a funeral

The police are investigating the cause of the near-fatal accident involving the Minority Chief Whip of Parliament, Muntaka Mubarak and his deputy, Ahmed Ibrahim on Saturday, February 15, 2020.

The two minority MPs were involved in an accident at Kubease near Konongo on the Kumasi-Accra road.

The parliamentarians were traveling to Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo Region for a funeral when the accident occurred.

The Asawase and Banda MPs were traveling with three other people but all persons on board survived the accident and have been discharged from Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

The police initial inquiry suggests that the MPs vehicle was ran into by a BMW car driven by a Customs official.

According to the police, the driver of the BMW failed to adhere to traffic rules before joining the main Kumasi-Accra road.

He is currently on admission at the Konongo Government Hospital receiving treatment.

Meanwhile, the MTTD Commanderin the Ashanti Region, Superintendent Emmanuel Adu Boahen told Joy News caution statements would be taken from the suspects when they recover fully.

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that there was another fatal accident involving vehicles traveling from Osramani to Gyasayo in the Krachi West District of the Oti region.

The accident which occurred a few hours ago on February 15, 2020, is believed to have taken the lives of 7 people and left some 51 people in various degrees of critical conditions.
