Vice President Bawumia finally launches ECG mobile app

Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia has launched a mobile application designed to make the purchase of Electricity Company of Ghana credits and the payment of bills more convenient.

This app, according to a report filed by GraphicOnline, ‘ECG Power’ app, would make it possible for 2.8 million out of the company’s 3.8 million customers to make payments for power purchased and services rendered by the Company.

Speaking at the launch on Tuesday, February 18, 2020, Bawumia expressed delight at the unveiling of the innovative application that will enhance the delivery of an essential public service to all ECG customers – from households, organizations, small businesses, and industry.

“With this new application, customers can now buy electricity credit from the comfort of their homes, anytime and anywhere. What is more, you can now buy credit for distressed family members and for acquaintances," Bawumia said.

Bawumia added that all these technological advancements are in line with Akufo-Addo’s vision to use digital technology to transform the economy of Ghana.

“The programme of Government which we are consistently delivering to Ghanaians is to use technology to bring about a total transformation of the way we go about our daily tasks, the way we do business, and the way we govern ourselves,” Bawumia added.

In other news, the Ghana Armed Forces have arrested 21 suspected members of separatists group, Homeland Study Group Foundation in the Volta Region upon a tip-off that they were training in the bushes of Dzodze.

According to Citi News report, 20 males and a female were arrested in the early hours of Monday, February 17, 2020, by some soldiers of the 66 Artillery Regiment.

The Commanding Officer of the regiment, Lieutenant Colonel Baba Pantoah, in his briefing to the pressmen, informed them that three other suspected separatists took to their heels before their arrival.
