President Akufo-Addo has stated that Ghana’s peace and prosperity are much more important than the ambitions of political figures.

According to Akufo-Addo, the upcoming 2020 elections would not interfere with the peace and stability Ghanaians have enjoyed since the country became a Republic.

In a tweet he shared following a comment he made at the 20th-anniversary celebration of the Tertiary Students Confederacy of the New Patriotic Party (TESCON), the president said Ghana is bigger than the ambitions of the politicians.

“The good sense of the Ghanaian people, which has preserved the peace and stability of the 4th Republic for the last 27 years, will continue to prevail, and they will not permit any poor, desperate loser to plunge this country into chaos. Ghana is bigger than the ambitions of any of us,” he wrote.

His comments come after assertions made by the former president Mahama to the effect that there will strife and misunderstanding before, during and after the 2020 polls.

In other news, paramount chief of the Nyagbo Traditional Area in the Oti Region, Torgbui Ashui Nyagasi V, has underscored the need for Ghanaians to give President Akufo-Addo another term.

According to him, Akufo-Addo's excellence in governance and gains made in his first term should be enough reason for Ghanaians to give him a nod for the second time.

He made this known at a durbar of the chiefs and people of Nyagbo to welcome the president as part of his three-day tour of the Volta and Oti regions.
