SONA 2020: Akufo-Addo to address parliament today

President Akufo-Addo is expected today, February 20, to deliver his fourth state of the Nation's Address to parliament.

The state of the nation's address is in accordance with Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution before there is a dissolution of parliament.

"The President shall, at the beginning of each session of Parliament and before a dissolution of Parliament, deliver to Parliament a message on the state of the nation,” the article states.

The president's address is to account for his stewardship over the last year and also announce the plans of the government for the coming year.

Akufo-Addo would address issues in sectors such as education, agriculture, health and the economy in general, are also expected to feature prominently.

Meanwhile, President Nana Akufo-Addo has promised the people of the Oti Region the NPP administration will construct a university in the area in its second term if given the opportunity and mandate.

“If God permits and we win the next elections, we will put in place structures to establish a university here as well,” Akufo-Addo said at a durbar in Jasikan on Monday, February 17, 2020.

The President opined that the six newly created regions will have all the needed infrastructure and facilities that will make life bearable.
