Nomsa Mavimbela took the bold move to share details of her personal journey since becoming mother to a son with special needs.
Her seven-year-old son Thato was diagnosed with hydrocephalus, a rare condition that leads to water in the brain, which can cause the head to grow abnormally.
When Nomsa gave birth, the outlook from doctors was very bleak. She was told that Thato most probably would not be able to survive.
At best, he'd live, but wouldn't be able to walk or talk.
The danger with the condition is that it can be fatal if certain measures aren't met. The news and the ongoing extra care required was a huge blow for Nomsa, who was just 20 years old at the time.
Through willpower, hard work and dedication, Thato has grown into a delightful little boy. Nomsa revealed that he's defied the odds, as he is able to walk and talk.
Nomsa's inspirational story was shared via the #ImStaying Facebook group and has attracted an astonishing 58 000 likes.
She rounded off her beautiful post by including a heartfelt plea - she urged parents to help stamp out bullying and touched on its devastating impact.
YEN.com.gh marvelled at the huge impact the post has had on South Africans.
Nikki Miles said,
"He has the MOST beautiful eyes!!! Gorgeous boy and a warrior woman mama."
Santie Schiermeier added,
"I agree with you. May God bless you and your little angel in abundance."
Sofie Hyllén responded:
In other news, 23-year-old Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana who recognized the profound talent and ambition of Ghanaian goalkeeper Arhin Aboagye locked behind bars at Nsawam Prison has sent the Ghanaian signed jerseys and gloves.
It would be recalled that news about of Ghanaian goalkeeper with an extraordinary talent reached the Cameroonian goalie and got him so impressed that he promised to send Arhin profound gifts including a signed jersey and gloves.
