Central University has cut the sod for the construction of a teaching hospital on its campus.
According to the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Bill Buener Puplampu, the facility when completed, will help with practical training for medical students on campus.
The project which is valued at GHC5 million will also provide quality healthcare to the people who live in and around the location of the university, Ningo-Prampram District.
The groundbreaking ceremony which happened on Monday, February 24, 2020, was a historic achievement in Ghana’s private education sector, the VC noted.
“It is historic for many reasons; Central University blazes the trail for science education in the private sector. At the time it was done, some said it was impossible,” Professor Puplampu said.
He opined that the construction of the facility will enhance Central University’s teaching and learning process.
On his part, Chancellor of the university, Dr. Mensa Otabil said he was very delighted about the project and hoped that when completed, it will be a facility or center of excellence.
The facility is a 38-bed-scalable clinic with International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) support and funding.
The facility will be made up of an Out-Patient Department (OPD), offices, lecture halls, case rooms for reviews, theatre, ultrasounds, X-ray department, among others.

According to the Central Regional NPP party people, the incumbent MP is fond of abusing them verbally.
He said Kennedy Agyapong is fond of insulting them at will, without any provocation because he is rich and untouchable.
