Member of Parliament(MP) for Assin Central Constituency, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has described his colleague legislators who benefited from Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) scholarships including Sarah Adwoa Safo as shameless and cheap.

According to him, he does not see how some of the names mentioned in the scandal need that money from the GETFund secretariat.

Kennedy Agyapong said he could have even opted to pay for the fees for her if she had asked him to bail her out.

He made this known while speaking in an interview on Oman FM as monitored by MyNewsGh.com.

“Is Adwoa Safo claiming that she can’t afford GHC22,000, it’s a shame…Adwoa is so industrious, she is into several businesses, her father [and] I could have even paid for her so I am surprised that she will go and take GHC22,000, it’s cheap on her side, very cheap,” he said.

He added that it shameful for Sarah Adwoa Safo and Mathew Opoku Prempeh to rob the needy but brilliant students off their entitlements despite their status in society just for selfish gains.

Manwhile, member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale Central constituency, Alhaji Inusah Fuseini, has stated that Members of Parliament (MPs) have no justification whatsoever to benefit from the GETfund scholarships.

According to a report filed by PeaceFMonline, he said it is quite shameful for a member of parliament to benefit from any GETFund scholarship scheme.

He made this statement while speaking in an interview with Maame Biamah Kwafo on Neat FM.

"I am ashamed MPs went for GETFund scholarships. I even didn't know that some MPs have applied for a scholarship, it never crossed my mind all these 14 years I've been in parliament to use my position as MP to apply for a scholarship," he said.
