Meet Dr Hadi Abdallah: From Nungua Zongo to an internationally recognised neurosurgeon

Dr Hadi Abdallah has become one of the few neurosurgeons from West Africa after coming from a very humble background at Nungua Zongo and being the 10th of 12 children.
A news report by Myjoyonline.com indicates that out of the 17 neurosurgeons to be trained in West Africa, Dr Abdallah comes from 11 that have been trained in Ghana.
Describing his humble background, the doctor indicates that from his family only one of his sisters was able to make it to high school as all the girls who came before his senior sister had never even sat in a classroom before.

Interestingly, coming from such a humble background, the now renowned doctor indicates that he never benefited from any grants or scholarships but worked himself to fund his education.
“I never benefited from any of the state scholarships. I paid my own fees, I had to work to pay my fees, in the university and in the medical school," he said.
This was a great challenge but nothing new to the passionate young man who started weeding in people's houses even before the age of 12, due to the financial problems at home.

The journey to greatness for the neurosurgeon started after he got a student loan from gaining admission to Accra Polytechnic.
In his own words: “I had some small money from the Student Loan from gaining admission to Accra Polytechnic. I took that to pay admission at Legon and then I got a visa to travel."
For 15 years, Dr Abdallah, trained in medical school and then in neurosurgery to become one of West Africa’s renowned neurosurgeons. After that, he became the president of the Junior Doctors Association after Medical School.

Reflecting on his profound journey to greatness the neurosurgeon said that it was his childhood dream coming to pass.
“I’m one of the few guys to actually have achieved their childhood dream and also achieve my fantasy. For some reason, I had even never seen a neurosurgeon before but I just dreamt that I want to be a brain surgeon," he explained.
In a similar news report, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and founder of Vokacom, Nana Osei Kwasi Afrifa, has narrated how he started his multi-million-dollar business when he was a student at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
Businessworldghana.com reports that Vokacom has become a company with grounded experience in offering Information Technology, Digital Addressing, Content Aggregation, Financial Advisory, Agribusiness and Real Estate services in Africa.
Nana Osei indicates that he does not feel his enterprise has arrived at all, although they make huge profits every year.
