According to the group their call is on the back of signs of flu and cold showed by the Ghana President during the State of the Nation Address.

The Civil Advocacy Group of Medical and Public Health practitioners, chastised the handlers of the President for ignoring the difficulties his current itinerary pose to his health.

It is, therefore, a matter of concern that in an era when most Presidents across the world have placed travel ban on foreign trips to several countries, our President could not emulate same by postponing his trip due to the Coronavirus scare and its possible pandemic threat,” the GHA Executive Secretary Dr. Vida Yakron said.

They further stated that their call also is as a result of the widespread nature of the deadly Coronavirus disease.

The group states that the ever-spreading Coronavirus has become difficult to contain as it keeps spreading in Asia and across Europe.

It added that even though the WHO is making sure that the disease does not affect countries with weaker and unprepared healthcare systems, most especially the African continent , some countries on the continent have already recorded cases.

The Ghana Health Alert group noted that ; “since the virus is said to have a minimum incubation period of not less than 14 days, we the members of the GHA have no alternative than to call on the Ghana health authorities and the Nugochi Medical Research Center to be on alert for the screening and quarantine of the President Akufo-Addo and his delegation as they could be persons of interest in case of any targeted biological warfare against Africa through Ghana. Under the circumstances, we have no alternative than to call for the quarantine upon arrival into Ghana.”

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that Ghana’s military has been ranked as the 106th strongest globally on a ranking of 138 countries.

Ghana moved up two places in the latest ranking. The data was in the Global Firepower ranking 2020. The ranking used 50 factors to determine a country’s power index score.
