- An Assembly Member of the Sogagofe South Assembly has been killed by unknown assailants
- Reports indicate that some unidentified men stormed the house of the deceased and stole his money
- In a bid to struggle with the assailants, the Assembly Member was shot in a number of places
Reports reaching YEN.com.gh indicate that the Assembly Member of the Sogakofe South Assembly, Marcus Mawutor Adzahli, has been killed by some assailants.
Unknown assailants allegedly shot and killed the Assembly Member at his residence in the early hours of Sunday, March 1, 2020.
According to information gathered by YEN.com.gh on Joy News, the yet-to-be-identified assailants numbering eight, broke into the home of Marcus Mawutor Adzahli and attempted making away with his savings.
The deceased is believed to have attempted to struggle with the assailants and was shot multiple times in the chest, stomach and head, leading to his unfortunate demise.
His wife also sustained an injury on the head and a knife wound in the shoulder during the scuffle with the assailants.
According to a close friend of the deceased, William Gleku, the assailants who made away with an unknown sum of money contained in the safe, gave warning shots on their way out of Sogakofe.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue for autopsy, while his wife is receiving treatment at the South Tongu District Hospital in Sogakofe.
At the time of filing this report, no arrest had been made, but police sources say an investigation into the incident has commenced.
According to sources, it took the assailants about 45 minutes to break the door to get into the house while distress calls were made to the police, which went unanswered.
After the incident, the residents angrily stormed the police barrier, sacked the police from there. They have massed up at the police station as well.
The main Sogakofe-Aflao road has been blocked causing a lot of traffic.
Mr Adzahli was elected in December 2019 and up until the time of his death, was the Assembly Member at post in the area.

In what appeared to be a jab titled Little Tip, Shatta Wale 'dressed' Sarkodie with scathing words and even went on to insinuate that the rapper was not rich.
Excerpts from the lyrics had it that Sarkodie was always lying to Ghanaians and was always claiming the glory of upcoming artistes who have made it by claiming he (Sarkodie) helped them
