Former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has expressed his readiness to play for the Black Stars again when he is called by coach CK Akonnor.

The former Sunderland goal poacher has not played for the national team since featuring at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt.

In an interview sighted by YEN.com.gh on Pulse Ghana, Gyan said he is still available for selection, adding that he has not retired from the national team.

Meanwhile, coach CK Akonnor has named his first squad since being appointed as Black Stars coach.

The former Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko boss has named a 23-man provisional squad for Ghana double header AFCON qualifier against Sudan.

Akonnor announced the squad during a press conference held at the Accra City Hotel on Tuesday, March 3, 2020.
