It is often said that family is not only by blood but by how much dedication and responsibility people take for one another.
Such is the case of a Nigerian man who recently got members of the internet community caught in their feelings after sharing the story of his family.
The individual identified as @laidetos on Twitter started off his narration by sharing how they lost their biological father before they got old enough to know what he looks like. @laidetos disclosed how his deceased father had promised their mum that he and his brother would be schooled at Kings College and Oxford University, before death claimed his life.
However, things got better for them after their mum got married to the man who is now their stepfather, 10 years after the death of their biological dad.

@laidetos said before the marriage, there had been a lot of reservations from their stepfather’s family. He said the man never had any intention of getting married but only had to do so in other to proceed to the position of a minister of the gospel.
Unfortunately, the decision was met with strong reservations as many had wondered how he could have made the decision to get married to a widow with two kids.

Sharing further, @laidetos recounted how he and his brother would often see their stepdad crying because of the criticisms over his marriage. Although, he said things got better eventually and their stepdad’s love for their mum won.
@laidetos shared how the man gleefully took over responsibilities him and his brother just a year after marriage. He said he managed to pay their tuition through secondary school, send them to university and even saw them through to the point of starting their own families.
@laidetos said: “He got the two of us out of high school and universities. Married for us both. He couldn't own a car, he couldn't buy a land when his mates where doing so. You know why? He had taken up a task beyond his pay grade...but he always found a way to do it. How? That I can't tell.”
Concluding his emotional story, @laidetos urged members of the internet community to join him in celebrating the birthday of his stepdad.
The post elicited mixed reactions from social media users on the platform. Read what some of them had to say below:
