News reaching YEN.com.gh reveals that four suspects have been arrested in connection with the killing of Assemblyman for Sogakope South, Marcus Mawutor Adzahli.
The Volta Regional Police Command, in a statement on Sunday, March 8, 2020, said the four persons arrested are assisting police with investigations and would be arraigned before court soon.
The late Assemblyman Adzahli was killed in his home by unknown assailants who broke into his apartment at dawn of Sunday, March 1.
An eye-witness revealed that his attackers shot Adzahli several times, leading to his death.
Adzahli’s wife and child, who also sustained several injuries in the attack, have since been treated and discharged from the hospital.
Meanwhile, the police say investigations into the disappearance of a service rifle at the Sogakope police station does not suggest any link to the murder.
The rifle according to the police, disappeared on March 7, 2020, whereas the murder took place eight days earlier.
Meanwhile, former president Jerry John Rawlings has placed a bounty of GHC25,000 on the head of the killers of the Assemblyman.
The Regional Minister and the Assembly had earlier offered GHC10,000 each for the same purpose.
According to a report filed on PeaceFMonline.cim, Rawlings expressed disgust at the trend of violent attacks in the South Tongu area, as he described the killing of the Assemblyman as a politically motivated murder.
