Burkina Faso has recorded their first confirmed cases of coronavirus, as a man and his wife tested positive to tests run on them.
According to Burkina Faso’s Health Minister, Prof. Claudine Lougué, the couple recently returned from France and showed symptoms.
The Minister of Health in Burkina Faso, Professor Claudine Lougué, said the two patients have been quarantined at an isolation facility.
According to a report by Citnewsroom, another person who was in close contact with the couple has been confined at home being closely monitored.
The health minister said a health team is in place and following up on other persons who may have come into contact with the patients.
“We invite anyone who has stayed in affected areas or who has been in close contact with a proven case to observe individual and collective prevention measures,” Professor Claudine Lougué said.
Affected countries are include Egypt, Algeria, South Africa, Senegal, Morocco, Cameroon, Nigeria, Tunisia and Togo.
In other news, the Ministry of Health has confirmed another fresh case of coronavirus in Nigeria, bringing the number of established cases to two since the outbreak of the life-threatening infection in the country.
