Since the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus otherwise known as the COVID-19 virus, most countries have recorded cases.
A few of these countries have had their ministers of state getting infected by their virus. Probably through their line of work they could have contracted it.
YEN.com.gh has compiled a list of all the high-profile people who have so far contracted the virus and one of which who eventually lost his life as a result of that.
1. UK Health minister
The Health Minister and Conservative MP, Nadine Dorries has reportedly tested positive for coronavirus.
She said in a statement that as soon as she was informed she took all the advised precautions and had been self-isolated at home.
2. Deputy Iranian Health Minister
Iraj Harirchi, Iran’s deputy health minister, has been infected with the coronavirus and has been placed under quarantine.
A spokesperson for the country’s health ministry on Tuesday, February 25, said the deputy health minister who heads Iran‘s counter-coronavirus taskforce tested positive for coronavirus.
According to reports, he died a few days after being infected.
3. French Minister Franck Riester
The minister of Culture of the French Republic has also tested positive for coronavirus.
“He is not in hospital, but rather confined to his home, with very few symptoms,” France’s health minister Olivier Véran said in an interview with French news channel BFMTV.
The minister is believed to have contracted the virus at the country’s lower house National Assembly, where five cases have been confirmed in recent days.
In other news, the Democratic Republic of Congo has for the first time since the outbreak of the Coronavirus recorded a patient who carries the deadly virus.
Health Minister, Eteni Longondo on Tuesday, March 10, 2020, said the patient has since been isolated at a Kinshasa hospital.
