Kenya's Lupita Nyong'o scoops another award for role in 12 Years a Slave film

Hollywood star Lupita Nyong’o has once again made her country proud after bagging a much-coveted award.

The 37-year-old actress was honoured by Gold Derby for her role in iconic movie 12 Years a Slave that portrayed the tribulations of slaves before their liberation.

The announcement was made on Twitter by the Penske Media brand which congratulated the actress on her magnificent skills on the ageless film.

The website said Lupita bagged a Film Decade Award for being the best-supporting actress.

Other winners included Amy Adams, Gong Joon Ho and Natalie Portman among many others.

Her fans congratulated the star and reminded her she deserved the prize more than anyone else.

In 2014, the renowned actress bagged three awards for her role in the movie which were: Screen Actors Guild Award, Critics’ Choice Award and Academy Award.

Ever since, the 37-year-old has been featured in major projects which include Black Panther, Americanah and Queen of Katwe.

Whenever she features or stars in a movie, the Kenyan-born beauty embodies her roles to the best of her abilities.

Her career has been soaring since she was given the chance to make her debut on the international movie industry.

Before performing on the global stage, Lupita was a respected actress who stared in local programme Shuga which had a long run on MTV.

Soon after, the beauty proceeded to Yale University where she continued with her studies and kicked off her successful career in Hollywood.

The Kenyan queen has been praised for her unique African beauty, great fashion sense, love for others and simplicity.

The politician’s daughter still remains down to earth despite her fame and wealth and often sneaks back into her motherland whenever she wants to spend time with her family.
