Ghanaian football striker, Asamoah Gyan, has been appointed as a Goodwill Ambassador for United Nations Youth Association-Ghana.

The former captain of the Ghana Black Stars made the announcement in a Twitter post on March 12, 2020.

According to Baby Jet, the latest appointment is a new opportunity for him and the ambassadorial position will enable him to serve and inspire the youth.

Baby Jet revealed the news on social media, which was sighted by YEN.com.gh on his official Twitter handle.

''Another opportunity to serve and inspire the youth," he wrote after posting a photo of him which had details of the said new post.

The Black Stars striker will be sworn-in as a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations Youth Association- Ghana on Thursday [today], March 12, 2020.

The swearing-in ceremony will take place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration in Accra.

Having served as captain for the Black Star and now being recognised and honoured with a position, loyal fans of the Ghanaian footballing star commented on the post to congratulate him.

''Congratulations to the Legend,'' @donsummerone wrote.

@OliverArthurALS said: ''Congratulations. We’ve always been an inspiration to the youth. Keep up the good work.''

However, some of the comments have challenged the authenticity of the appointment.

''According to the UN, they have no knowledge of such UNYA-GHANA, how can same be honouring our Capt....we don't want any trouble!!,''@dilberty2 replied Asamoah's post.

In more news about the footballer, Asamoah Gyan named his greatest player of all-time in a recent interview.

The former Sunderland goal machine named Brazilian legend Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima as the best footballer for him.

Gyan, in an interview sighted by YEN.com.gh on Pulse Ghana, said he hasn’t watched any player who is capable of doing anything with the ball like the Brazilian.

“Ronaldo, the Brazilian, any time any day. For me, I haven’t seen any player like him. Although, there have been a lot of players. I don’t think I have seen any player like him because a striker who can do anything at any time, the strength, the speed, the dribbling abilities, the finishing, skills. it was amazing," the former Sunderland striker told Pulse Ghana.

Gyan is Africa’s all-time top scorer in the FIFA World Cup with six goals (6). The Ghanaian surpassed Roger Milla's record during the 2014 Mundial staged in Brazil.
