Popular TV personality Berla Mundi, known privately as Berlynda Addardey, has popped on social media with photos showing her in 'dipo' apparel.
Berla's station, TV3, had a cultural heritage day on Friday, March 13, 2020. As a co-host on TV3's morning show, Berla decided to showcase the culture of the Krobo people by depicting how their popular 'dipo' puberty rite done.
In the photos sighted by YEN.com.gh, Berla could be seen wearing plenty of beads around her waist and neck.
Walking barefoot into the studio, the TV3 morning show host also had some beads tied around her ankles and calves.
Ordinarily, those who under the 'dipo' puberty rites are not supposed to cover their chests and thighs but Berla had to cover up for obvious reasons.
Sharing the photos, Berla explained the processes the Krobo girls go through for the puberty rites.
After the photos from Berla, many of her followers have reacted expressing different opinions.
Starr FM presenter Cookie (@cookieteegh) wanted Berla to remove the bra: "Ohhhhhhhhh Berla, why have you covered up for tv???? Pls remove the slacks and bra and lemme see something
And so did actor James Gardiner (@jamesgardinergh): "Who cares about modernization?? You shouldn’t have covered anything! Embrace your culture and let them say all they want...but when you close from work, pass by the house...I want to show you something again!"
@myss_france also urged Berla to free the tatas: "Please remove the tube, they don't wear that let the tatas free ."
@desneakertherapist praised Berla: "@berlamundi you rock it better. Such a Rich culture you truly a virgin if not you wouldn’t have been able to perform this Dipo Rite ... ."
It looks like Berla Mundi likes puberty rites issues as this happens to be the second time in about six months that puberty rites photos of her have surfaced online.
It will be recalled that Berla caused a stir on social media after sharing a throwback photo of her time as a contestant in the Miss Malaika beauty pageant.
In that throwback, Berla was seen performing Ga puberty rites, 'otofo', as the people call it during the 2009 Malaika competition.
