GWCL gives advance warning; says Ghanaians should store more water

The Ghana Water Company Limited is urging Ghanaians to desist from wasting water and rather store enough for use as it faces challenges with water supply in the capital, Accra and other cities.

According to the management of the water company, consumers must ensure they increase storage of water while it flows through their taps.

The Management of Ghana Water Company Limited has asked Ghanaians to desist from using treated water for commercial car washing and watering of lawns with since these practices reduce the pressures in the pipelines.

It must be emphasised that during this period of the covid-19 pandemic, citizens are advised to wash hands regularly under running water. With the erratic flow in some areas, consumers are advised to use improvised receptacles like the ‘Veronica Bucket’ in the washing of hands and dispose of the dirty water immediately after,” the statement stated.

In other news, YEN.com.gh repoted that immigration officials at the Kotoka International Airport on Monday, March 16, 2020 stopped two Italian nationals from entering Ghana.

The two Italians reportedly arrived on board an Air France aircraft which landed in Accra. Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong who made this known said the decision to prevent their entry into the country is in line with the government’s travel advisory following the COVID-19 outbreak.

YEN also reported earlier that the National Chief Imam Sheikh Usman Nuhu Sharubutu has also added his voice by suspending all public Islamic religious activities.

The revered Chief Imam also urged the Muslim community to adhere to all directives from the government, in order to help in controlling the spread of the Coronavirus.
