A family in New York celebrated their grandmother's 95th birthday but amid growing concerns over COVID-19, the family safely kept their distance while surprising the birthday girl.

The rippling effects surrounding the ongoing coronavirus pandemic did not stop this family from safely celebrating with their loved ones.

An adorable video shared on Instagram by Sara Byrne, the matriarch's grandchild, of her and the rest of the family singing happy birthday went viral on the interwebs.

"We had to keep our distance but we could not see our best girl on her birthday," Byrne wrote.

In the video, the Byrne's family could be seen of their grandma's front lawn singing her happy birthday, holding up balloons and decorations while wearing party hats.

"If you are lucky enough to know grandma Byrne, you' are lucky enough. Wishing this amazing lady a very happy 95th birthday, love you Gram!" wrote another granddaughter.
"Oh, I love it! Thank you. I am sorry we all could not be together, but you are all together," Byrne told her sons, daughters and grandchildren from her porch.

Since coronavirus has been declared as a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO), people have been self-quarantining and are maintaining social distance from their loved ones.
