Coronavirus: Video shows how screening is done in Abu Dhabi airport

- The spread of coronavirus has resulted in Abu Dhabi engaging in very complex screening methods for passengers

Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and second most populous city after Dubai, is engaging complex methods of screening passengers because of coronavirus.

As a result, the city now engages passengers in a rigorous screening process to detect passengers who may be possible carriers of the virus.

A part of the procedures is now for the health officials at the airport to go into the plane to screen for the temperature of every passenger before they would disembark.

Since this procedure and other such steps started, the airport said 15,000 tests have been carried out without a single positive case.

A video showed officials leaving a plane after one of such screening with a message: "No-one can leave the plane until this is completed. It’s one of several steps in place to try to control #COVID19 in the UAE..."

Bryan Thompson, the chief executive officer at Abu Dhabi Airports was quoted on Wednesday, March 18, by The National as saying: “So far we’ve tested over 15,000 people on arrival at Abu Dhabi Airport, and we haven’t had one positive return as yet.”

The airport also carries out thermal scanners and nasal swabs.
