Coronavirus: Monaco's Prince Albert tests positive for Covid-19

Monaco's Prince Albert has been diagnosed with the novel coronavirus, the principality confirmed in a statement on Thursday.

Prince Albert is the first head of state and royal to be infected with Covid-19 but his health poses no concerns.

According to the statement, Prince Albert was doing well and there were "no concerns for his health".

The 62-year-old appears to be self-isolating in his apartment at the royal palace, where he will continue with his work.

His diagnosis follows three days after Monaco's prime minister, Serge Telle, revealed he had been infected with the coronavirus, eNCA reported.

Monaco has had nine confirmed Covid-19 cases since it had been detected on 28 February and the country has already put in measures to limit the spread.

From midnight on Saturday, all public spaces will be closed down.

Prince Albert joins a growing list of notable people who had been infected with the deadly virus. Earlier this week, reported Idris Elba confirmed he had tested positive for the coronavirus.

Elba posted a video online claiming that although he has tested positive, he is not showing any symptoms so far.

The famous actor explained that he was tested because he had been exposed to someone else who had tested positive for the coronavirus.

Other celebs who tested positive include James Bond actress Olga Kurylenko, Tom hanks and wife Rita Wilson, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and Chelsea player Callum Hudson-Odoi.
