A 72-year-old Italian priest infected with coronavirus has died after giving up his ventilator to help another infected person.

The priest, Don Giuseppe Berardelli, gave up his ventilator to a younger person on Sunday, March 15, CBS News reports.

YEN.com.gh gathers that the priest served as the Archpriest of Casnigo in the Diocese of Bergamo in Northern Italy, one of the areas hardest hit by the coronavirus pandemic.

According to Clara Poli, the mayor of the town of Fiorano, where Berardelli was a longtime pastor, the priest was a great person who was always cheerful and full of enthusiasm.

He said: "He gave peace and joy to our communities."

Meanwhile, Ghana has closed all of its borders to human traffic effective Sunday, March 22, 2020.

The closure was announced by President Nana Akufo-Addo in a public broadcast on Saturday, March 21, 2020

According to Akufo-Addo, the move is to help reduce the importation of Coronavirus into the country.
