President Akufo-Addo has spoken on the many calls on him to lock down the country as a way to curb the spread of coronavirus.
He said though a lockdown remains an option, extensive consultations are being held to consider all factors and options before announcing a lockdown if necessary.
The president added that despite the hard time the country finds itself in, the government is ensuring to take the best and right decision.

Akufo-Addo reportedly made this remark in a meeting with the leadership of the Trades Union Congress on Wednesday, March 25, 2020.
He indicated that he has heard the many calls on him to announce a lockdown, however, there is the need to consider the majority of people who would be affected in that case.
The president mentioned the working class and the ordinary people of Ghana who would be the most affected.

“People in Ghana are now talking about a lockdown. Majority of people who will be affected by decisions of that nature are the working people of our country. The ordinary people of Ghana,” the president said.
Given this backdrop, the government is poised in taking the best decision for the interest of the people.
He added that “a responsible government is required to look at all the implications before decisions are made”, Akufo-Addo stressed.
Meanwhile, Ghana’s confirmed coronavirus cases stands at 132 as of Thursday, March 26, 2020, with 4 deaths.
