Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II, Kwahuhene and President of the Kwahu-Traditional Council has ordered for the entire Kwahu township to be on a 'lockdown' of a sort.
This has been necessitated in the wake of the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in Ghana as the disease is on a continual rise in different parts of the country.
In a statement sighted by YEN.com.gh that was released by the traditional leaders at Kwahu under the auspices of the Ministry of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, it was clearly stated that everyone currently outside Kwahu and planning to return should cancel the trip.
See the entire statement below:
It is indicated that the decree was reached and made after lengthy conversations among the chiefs, healthcare professionals and MMDCE's.
The report stated that the motive of the sudden isolation of the town is mainly that there are large masses of elderly people in the Kwahu traditional area whose lives and health would be at great risk if all preventive measures are not put in place to stop COVID-19 from entering the locality.
The novel coronavirus has proven to pose a great threat to the lives of individuals who are elderly or have serious underlying health conditions.
In conclusion, the statement orders all people of Kwahu to strictly adhere to all personal measures that would prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
