Singer, R Kelly, has pitched to be released from jail for the fear of contracting COVID-19 which is gradually spreading across the world.

The singer who is held at Illinois filed a plea through his lawyer Steven Greenberg on Thursday, March 26.

In a report by TMZ, his attorney filed a motion in which he talked about coronavirus spreading around the world, and the health risks he believes his client is facing while penned up in Chicago MCC.

According to him, it does not matter the steps the jail takes to ensure proper sanitation it will still be substandard and the risk of the virus spreading in there is great.

R Kelly says social distancing is impossible in jail revealing that soap is only available to inmates who can afford to buy it.

He also said that sanitisers are not available and there is only one in the visiting floor which has been labelled for use by the staff only.

The singer pleads to be released on bond and says he is willing to wear an electronic monitoring.

Kelly said he would go to live with his last remaining girlfriend, Joycelyn Savage, at an apartment complex in Chicago.

The accused singer is currently held in a jail in Illinois as he awaits trial.
