Ghanaian Dancehall King Shatta Wale has commended President Akufo-Addo for setting free some prisoners in the quest to decongest prisons in Ghana as the country fights the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus.

President Nana Akufo-Addo in consultation with the Council of State today granted amnesty to 808 convict prisoners.

Shatta Wale had earlier suggested that as the country fights the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus, prisoners should also be freed as a way to decongest our prisons.

But most Ghanaians were not in favour of the 'Melissa' hitmaker's suggestion.

However Shatta Wale appears to be extremely excited that the president listened to his call to set about 808 prisoners free.

In a Twitter post sighted by YEN.com.gh said commended Akufo-Addo saying that Ghana's president is a man of God.

"I wrote this just last week and my God touched the presidents heart Red heart..He is not just a leader but a man of God as well. Thank you once again Mr president," Shatta Wale tweeted.

The categories of the prisoners released are First offenders – 783, seriously ill – 11, inmates on death row to be commuted to life imprisonment – 7 and inmates serving a life sentence to have the sentence commuted to 20 years definite term – 4.

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that Shatta Wale had dropped details for his upcoming concert dubbed 'Faith Concert'.

The 'Faith Concert' is expected to take place on April 4, 2020 on Shatta Wale's Youtube channel and across all his social media platforms for his fans around the globe.

In a post shared by rapper Criss Waddle and sighted by YEN.com.gh, the concert which will be taking place at Shatta Wale's residence is to help all Shatta Wale fans keep their faith in God in "these challenging" coronavirus times.
