President Nana Akufo-Addo on Friday, March 27, 2020 announced the establishment of a fund to receive contributions and donations to support the coronavirus victims.

The President revealed this when he announced a lockdown of Accra, Tema, Kasoa and Kumasi in an address to the nation.

He also stated that, the COVID-19 Fund will be chaired by former Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo.
The President also pledged his salary for the next three months – April, May and June – as his contribution to the fund which will be managed by an independent board of trustees.
Akufo-Addo was also full of praise for churches, organisations and individuals who have so far contributed towards the care of the persons affected by this novel disease.

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that former MUSIGA president, Bice Osei Kuffuor, popularly known as Obour, has lost his father, Nana Osei Boansi Kuffour, to the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Nana Osei Boansi Kuffuor died at the Ridge Hospital om, Friday, March 27 after being rushed to the facility on Thursday night.
According to information gathered by YEN.com.gh, Obour's father returned from the United Kingdom (UK) on Thursday, March 19, 2020.
