Nana Addo sets up COVID-19 fund; pledges 3 months salary as seed money

President Nana Akufo-Addo on Friday, March 27, 2020 announced the establishment of a fund to receive contributions and donations to support the coronavirus victims.

The President revealed this when he announced a lockdown of Accra, Tema, Kasoa and Kumasi in an address to the nation.

He also stated that, the COVID-19 Fund will be chaired by former Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo.

The President also pledged his salary for the next three months – April, May and June – as his contribution to the fund which will be managed by an independent board of trustees.

Akufo-Addo was also full of praise for churches, organisations and individuals who have so far contributed towards the care of the persons affected by this novel disease.
