COVID-19: Family reportedly involved in accident while fleeing Accra lockdown (photos)

A family have reportedly been involved in a gory accident on the Accra-Cape-Coast highway while travelling to New Edubiase in the Ashanti region.

According to a report YEN.com.gh sighted on TV Africa's Instagram page, the family was moving out of Accra to the Adansi South district capital to escape the lockdown of Accra.

As earlier reported by YEN.com.gh, President Nana Akufo-Addo, on Friday, March 27, 2020, announced a partial lockdown of Accra, Tema, and Kumasi and their immediate surroundings.

The lockdown which is scheduled to start at 01:00 am on Monday, March 30, 2020, was part of new measures to curb the spread of the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Following the announcement of the lockdown, there have been many fleeing the affected cities and their environs.

This family happen to be one of the people escaping the lockdown but suffered the unfortunate.

It is not known yet if there were any casualties in the accident but photos show it was a critical one.

The photos from the accident show the family's car which had been mangled beyond repairs being put on a towing car.

Meanwhile, President Nana Akufo-Addo has been hailed over his recent statement about COVID-19.

Akufo-Addo had urged people to stay home saying there is a way to revive a dead economy but there is no way to revive dead people.

The statement has got WHO Director-General Tedros Ghebreyesus and popular British journalist Piers Morgan praising him.
