COVID-19 fight: All frontline workers need extra pay - Dumelo to government

Actor and politician, John Dumelo, has expressed concerns about how all the health workers helping to contain the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in the country need to be rewarded for their efforts.

According to Dumelo, all frontline health workers deserve to be paid extra allowances by the government.

In a Facebook post sighted by YEN.com.gh Mr Dumelo indicated that the extra allowance would be a great reward to the nurses and doctors for their efforts in fighting the pandemic.

In reacting to his post, some Ghanaians have lauded him over his suggestions and have backed his request.

Felix joined John Dumelo to appreciate all frontline health workers.

Quabena also commended Dumelo for his efforts during these times.

Omone also believed all front liners need extra salaries.

John Dumelo earlier expressed his concerns on how petty traders, street hawkers and persons working in the informal sector would survive, should the government enforce a lockdown.

Dumelo held the view that such people mentioned would be at a disadvantage since their sources of income will be greatly affected.

In a Facebook post sighted by YEN.com.gh, Dumelo suggested what the government could consider doing should there be a lockdown.

He suggested that electricity and water tariffs for the period of lockdown be reduced.

Dumelo also suggested that fuel prices should be reduced as well as data and call charges across all networks.
