“It is a great loss. She was a colleague and very hard working councilor who always put herself forward. She was a fighter and fought for 24 days on a ventilator which is a long time,” her friend Haqeeq said.

Her family members said the loss hurts deeper than it should because Shabnum died away from her loved ones and did not have the chance to say goodbye.

Her trip was meant to last only eight days.

The mother of five was a fighter and a believer in fate as she bravely delivered her quadruplets back in 2006 despite having polycystic ovarian syndrome.

She thought she could not have any more children but as fate would have it, Shabnum delivered not one, not two but four healthy babies through C-section.

The people who loved her termed the 39-year-old as a kind woman who was dedicated to helping kids and the lowly in society.

Her death came as a shock to her workmates and the people whose lives she had touched while still alive.

“Shabnum was a dedicated councilor and despite only being in her first term, she had made a contribution far beyond the years she would spend in the council chamber,” a fellow councilor said.
